As the flowers bloom and the days grow longer, we are reminded that spring is a season of renewal, hope, and growth. It’s also a time for celebrating our mothers, fathers, and caregivers, and at East End Disability Associates (EEDA), we proudly pay tribute to the legacy of Lisa Meyer Fertal, our founding mother.
When her son Andrew was diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities, Lisa gained firsthand knowledge of the challenges families face while caring for loved ones with complex needs. She founded EEDA to support her son and other people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Lisa’s love, courage, and determination gave life to EEDA over 30 years ago, building a place where more than 700 people are valued, supported, and empowered to live their happiest lives as valued members of the community.
Her unwavering belief in the potential of every individual continues to guide EEDA’s work today. Through Lisa’s passion and perseverance, she built more than an organization; she built an extended family and a future for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Long Island.
