DAY SERVICES
Programs with Purpose
EEDA Day Services are more than a program—they are a vibrant community where people are valued, capable, and empowered to make meaningful contributions every day. Together, we nurture independence, celebrate achievement, and create opportunities for every person to shine.
💙 Building Skills for Life
Participants develop essential social skills by learning how to build friendships, communicate effectively, and actively engage with the world around them. Every day is an opportunity to practice independence, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving in supportive, inclusive settings.
🌟 Discover the Power of Possibility at EEDA Day Services
At EEDA Day Services, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are empowered to grow, connect, and thrive through engaging, community-based experiences. Our programs are designed to strengthen social and life skills while fostering independence, confidence, community involvement, and meaningful friendships.
Traditional Day Habilitation programs in Calverton and in Riverhead are well-rounded and accommodate a wide range of abilities and interests while building skills in the community.
Programs Without Walls (PWW) Creative Arts Program focuses on building life skills through the creative arts, producing variety shows and theater productions. Activities include painting and drawing, music, dance, fashion, creative writing, and improvisation.
PWW LEEP teaches participants life skills through animal husbandry, gardening, and land stewardship.
PWW of the Hamptons builds skills through community inclusion and volunteering on the South Fork.
🌎 Active, Contributing Community Members
EEDA members are proud to give back. Through partnerships with respected local organizations, participants volunteer, building natural supports and making a visible impact in their communities. We currently volunteer with C.A.S.T., Island Harvest, Long Island Lending a Helping Hand, Warrior Ranch Foundation, Hallock State Park Preserve, and Heart of the Hamptons. These experiences instill pride, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging.
🌱 Learning Through Nature
Our PWW LEEP service based in Calverton, emphasizes taking care of farm animals and environmental education, providing hands-on learning experiences that build responsibility, compassion, and practical skills.
Participants also tend to a community garden plot, where they learn to plant, prune, and harvest vegetables. They build culinary skills by preparing recipes from their harvest, and they give back by donating fresh produce to neighbors in need.
🎭 Creative Expression
Our PWW Creative Arts Program, based in Calverton, teaches varied life skills by way of the creative and performing arts.
Through our partnership with East End Arts, participants explore drum classes and theater workshops where they discover creativity, confidence, and self-expression. We also partner with the Parrish Art Museum to tour current exhibits and make our own art inspired by what we saw.
🏀 Healthy Living
EEDA encourages wellness and teamwork through participation in a competitive inter-agency basketball league, outdoor activities, walks, and games at our local parks. In all activities, we encourage sportsmanship, kindness, and collaboration.
🗣️ Empowering Self-Advocacy
Our monthly self-advocacy group empowers participants to use their voices, share ideas, and develop leadership skills. Members also build independence through transportation navigation training, culinary instruction, fitness classes, and hands-on support of local parks.
