After School Therapeutic Recreation Program: Many times children with disabilities do not have the opportunity to make friends, interact with peers, and make appropriate choices regarding play. East End Disability Associates responds to these needs by offering therapeutic recreation programs
at up to five times a week at two locations in Suffolk County. The certified recreation therapist completes individualized evaluations, develops goals and objectives, monitors progress and completes quarterly reports for each child. We work collaboratively with families, school districts, and New York State to ensure programs of excellence and to meet the needs of the children we serve.
Over Night Respite: East End Disability Associates acknowledges the stress and strain caring for a loved one with disabilities presents. Overnight respite is a scheduled proactive experience for children age eight and up and adults who live with their family in Suffolk and Nassau County. Respite is available every weekend for two individuals at a time.

Mobile Crisis Team: Available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, this program is designed to fill in the gaps of the traditional service delivery system. The Crisis Intervention Team is comprised of Crisis Field Representatives that will help or assist families with a developmentally disabled family member living at home in Nassau or Suffolk County. The Crisis Field Representative will meet with the family in their home to develop a plan that addresses the crisis. A crisis is an individualized need that varies from family to family. Situations can be as serious as the illness or death of a caregiver, support during medical appointments, to the more common difficulty of behavioral challenges.
Emergency Respite: This natural extension of the Mobile Crisis Team is a safe environment where an individual in crisis can have a short-term stay. Up to four individuals can be served at a time. When an individual stays with us, a plan will quickly be established in conjunction with the individual, the family, Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, and other interested involved parties for both short and long term outcomes. Families can be confident that their loved one, including those with challenging behaviors, will be cared for by professionally trained staff in a home like environment.

School Vacation Program: This service offers families a safe haven at a time that is traditionally very difficult to secure childcare. It operates during all major school vacations at two locations in Suffolk County. Ten children can be served daily. This program is recreational in nature providing opportunities for children to make friends and have fun. There is a great demand for this program and we work hard to ensure that each family has at least one day of service per vacation.

Respite Reimbursement: This program, available to 120 families residing in Suffolk County, provides resources to obtain respite care for their family member who has developmental disabilities. Families/Individuals can receive up to $500 annually. These funds can also be utilized to help defray costs of other items and services that cannot be paid for through conventional means.
Environmental Modifications / Assistive Technology: Ramps, accessible bathrooms, and communication devices are all examples of costly necessities that families often do not have the resources to obtain. This program will assist families in securing funding through the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (NYSOMRDD) to meet these needs. These modifications and equipment allow individuals increased independence and enhanced communication.
