EEDA Raises Over $120,000

Friends of EEDA gathered on April 30th at Giorgio's in Baiting Hollow to support the Annual Spring Gala.  Over two hundred guests attended to savor the offerings including food, dance and fun.  The Denice Given Band, as usual, had everyone on their feet and the RSI Auctioneers provided entertainment by presenting a wide array of art and sports memorabilia and live auction items.  This year, we honored EEDA's own Kenneth Miller, Associate Director of MSC and Clinical Services, for his dedication to and leadership in the field of disabilities.
A highlight of the evening was the short video, "A Day in the Life of EEDA," which was comprised of both film and picture images representing the relationships and activities of EEDA staff, consumers and volunteers.  It was sweet and reminded us of the purpose and mission of EEDA:  "Dedication to quality care to those with developmental disabilities on Eastern Long Island."
Every event is special, but this year was remarkable.  Despite the economy, EEDA raised over $120,000 at the Gala. Guests had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items, purchase chances for raffles, participate in the live auction and fifty/fifty.  Business owners gave generous donations providing all of the items to be auctioned or raffled that evening.  The Gala Committee comprised of parents, staff and Foundation members did a phenomenal job organizing the event.  The evening was most enjoyable for all.
I thank all of you who attended and participated in making this evening special.  Your support allows us to continue to reach above and beyond for those precious individuals we care for in the EEDA family.

With Warm Regards,
Dr. Gene Gerardi - Gala Chair and EEDA Foundation President
