Day Habilitation Activities
"cultivating opportunities for learning, volunteering and friendships"
EEDA's programs are based on assisting and enhancing the lives of developmentally disabled individuals who reside on the Eastern End of Long Island. Based on the consumer's choice, Individualized Service Plans are developed to provide community inclusion while further developing independence and productivity to enable each person to be more self sufficient. By teaching tolerance and acceptance, EEDA believes that every developmentally disabled individual should participate in his or her community to the fullest extent possible. On a daily basis, EEDA's consumers and staff participate in various trips that allow them to become more active members of the community. By participating in their community, day habilitation participants give back to their own community as much as they receive!
Recreational activities include bowling, physical fitness, attending plays, participating in talent shows, picnics, holiday trips into NYC and boat tours. Skills are developed through computer training, street safety, use of public transportation, personal and program shopping, and yoga classes to name just a few.
Services are currently provided through locations on the North and South shores of Eastern Long Island.
These programs are located in: Riverhead, Center Moriches and Calverton.
