Crisis Supports
Mobile Crisis Team
Available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, this program is designed to fill in the gaps of the traditional service delivery system. The Crisis Intervention Team is comprised of Crisis Field Representatives that will help or assist families with a developmentally disabled family member living at home in Nassau or Suffolk County. The Crisis Field Representative will meet with the family in their home to develop a plan that addresses the crisis. A crisis is an individualized need that varies from family to family. Situations can be as serious as the illness or death of a caregiver, support during medical appointments, or with behavioral challenges.
Overnight Crisis House
This natural extension of the Mobile Crisis Team is a safe environment where an individual in crisis can have a short term stay. Up to four individuals can be served at a time. When an individual stays with us, a plan will quickly be established in conjunction with the individual, the family, Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, and other interested involved parties for both short and long term outcomes. Families can be confident that their loved one, including those with challenging behaviors, will be cared for by professionally trained staff in a home like environment.
